  Silver Dome for Turin
Turin is preparing for the Olympic games, with the opening ceremony only 14 days ahead, all involved are working hard to get Turin ready in time.
On gold medal plaza, a silver Dome is slowly progressing and, even in its unfinished state, looks magnificent.
The Olympic Winter games, which will be held in Turin from February 10th till 26th, have generated al lot of work for Italian Prolyte distributor Decima and their client Ital Stage.

Ital Stage, partly based on consultancy from Prolyte, has developed the main construction for the silver Dome. The stage structure is a mix of steel and aluminium. For the middle grid, Prolyte S52ST truss is used. For the main grid B100RV truss will be used, combined with S36R truss, which will act as supporting structure for a huge inflatable on top of the stage. The Dome is a circular roof structure with an overall height of 22,8 m. and a clearance of 17m. The structure has a cantilever of 16 m. at the front, which is supported by S36V truss and by guy-wires attached to the middle tower. A huge video screen of 29 x 10 m. will be hung underneath this grid.
Two sets of ST towers with B100V truss stand within the Dome to support the sound system, further the Dome is flanked by 2 Prolyte Rigging towers for a delay sound system.
The cantilever construction was tested with a live load of over 12 ton, which resulted in a deflection of only 3,9 centimetres. This is an incredibly low figure for a construction with these measurements.

Staging Bharati
Prolyte has supplied a complete staging system for the musical Bharati. Bharati is a musical extravaganza, a mix of varied dances, music and folk traditions of India, brought to the audience over the space of 100 minutes. After a trail period in Israel, the European tour for the Musical Bharati will kick off on January 26th in Paris.

During the trials, the technical production encountered difficulties with the staging, not only was a building time of over 8 hours for 4 technicians required, also the excessive side loading, induced by a dazzling choreography, caused problems.

As Jakob Sagiv from Silk, International Executive Producer, stated: “We knew we had to look for another staging system for the European tour, since we have had good experiences with Prolyte for other productions, we contacted them to design the stage and the special staircases”.

Last week the Stage DEX staging system was delivered in Germany for a proof building at the set construction company Idee und Realisation.

Dutch Royal Air Force Band performs on Stage DEX
The Dutch Royal Air Force band is renowned for their spectacular performance of symphonic rock shows. Successful tours from previous years included Symfo ’99 and Tommy from the Who. Their latest show Queen in Concert is based on the repertoire of Queen, staged for an Orchestra of 50 musicians. Barndoor, distributor of Prolyte in the Netherlands delivered the complete staging set for this touring production, all based on the Stage DEX system. As Bas Entius, Sales manager of Barndoor pointed out: “Since this is a touring production, we knew we had to deliver a system that could live up to the highest qualifications in respect of assembly time and strength. Fifty rocking musicians cause a hell of a lot impact on a stage and you have to be prepared for that”.

Those were the days
Dutch band “Diep Triest” has started their new theatre tour 2006-2007 “Those were the days” with a complete new staging set-up. The set is constructed from Prolyte X40V trusses in combination with special designed stage DEX and 5 adjustable stairs. This enormous set, more likely to be seen at a hard rock concert, displays the ambition of this, locally famous, band.

The complete set was proof built at Prolyte, where the touring technicians were instructed of how to best build the set. The adjustable stairs make the set very flexible, so moving from one theatre to the other will cause no problem in regard to stage dimensions.

    Circular Stage
In addition to the square and rectangular stage types, Prolyte manufactures curved stage decks.
Prolyte is the only manufacturer of staging systems who is able to fabricate circular stages that are actually based on curved segments, this makes the Stage DEX Staging system quite unique.
The curved segments are manufactured with a high degree of accuracy ensuring a perfect fit with no distortion.
