Monster Portal at le Mans

In order to create an advertisement banner over the piste at Le Mans for the GP MOTO event, French rental company Impact constructed a giant arc from Prolyte truss.

The total free span of the arc is 22m as it was designed to cross the complete piste, from side to side.
In order to realize a safe and stable construction, which is able to restrain wind forces of 80km/h, Impact chose 2 spans of Prolyte S52SV truss, interconnected with steel pipes.

Calculations proved that only 1ton of ballast was needed at each base of the portal towers, which already had a self weight of 200kg. each.
