Gulf Cup On Dec 10, 2004 Qatar hosted the 17th Gulf Cup, which is a championship that combines 8 countries (Qatar, Saudi Arabia, UAE, Oman, Bahrain, Kuwait, Iraq and Yemen) participating in 4 different sports ( Football, Handball, Basketball and Volleyball ).
The Organizers of the championship wanted to make this tournament a very special one, especially to position Qatar as the Sport Capital of the Middle East as it will be hosting the 15th Asian Games in 2006 as well. The Committee has nominated Mr. Sharif Hashisho the managing director of Qatar Vision Production Company, Prolyte distributor for Qatar, to direct the ceremonies department of the 17th Gulf Cup. Mr. Hashisho was chosen because he has previously produced a tremendous number of successful sports ceremonies, such as the World Table Tennis Championship ceremony in March 2004. The production of the show was a team effort combining several leading companies as Qvision, Auditoire, ETC, Flash Art and Magnum. More than 2000 people were involved in the production, 200 technical crew, 1300 volunteers, and 500 staff members from the organizing committee. Qvision is finding that these international opportunities are considered one of the ways to change the mentality and knowledge of the Middle East about how the events should be produced and managed. The installation comprised the following truss, used to support an extensive amount of automated lights, sound and projection equipment. - 480m of Prolyte S57 heavy duty Folding truss - 380m of Prolyte X30 truss ![]() |
