Prolyte supplies Slush 2015

18/12/2015

Why do over 15000 people gather at a bleak and cold exhibition site in Helsinki each year?

If you’re not from the world of start-ups you might have missed it, but they’re here for Slush.

The Slush start-up event has grown out to a full-fledged event in less than 4 years.

Covering the complete exhibition grounds in Helsinki and not only attracting more than 15000 visitors, but also an impressive line-up of international speakers and investors.

In 2015, Slush brought together 15.000 attendees, including 1.700 start-ups, 800 venture capital investors and 630 journalists from exactly 100 countries. People from more than half of the world’s countries travelled to the cold and dark Helsinki, with the ambition of taking their business to the next level.

Slush is a non-profit event organized by a community of entrepreneurs, investors, students and festival organizers. Although Slush has grown from a 300-person event to become one of the leading events of its kind in the world, the philosophy behind it has remained the same: to help the next generation of great, world-conquering companies forward.

Responsible for the complete look and feel of this event is a young Finnish designer, Jenni Kääriäinen, working for Sun Effects, who are also responsible for the complete technical organisation of the event.

Slush

Known from their out-of-the-box design for events like Slush and festivals like Flow, Sun Effects is a relatively young but ambitious production design company.
Meeting the Sun Effects team just outside the entrance hall, soon two things become very clear, these people love our products and this must be about the most relaxed production team I have ever met.

Jenni Kaariainen, Designer, Kati Kuusisto, Executive producer, and Tuomas Karppinen, Technical producer for Sun Effects, take all the time to show us around and elaborate on the use of truss and why they love Prolyte truss so much. It’s inspiring to find a designer which is so intrigued by our products that she uses it as central decorative element for an event like this. Not only this year, but for years in a row.

As Jenni explains: “I really like to work with Prolyte because it fits always, even in the complex structures I like to design”. For some years now, every piece of, preferably black Prolyte truss is sourced all over the Nordics to be used in the 4 different stage designs which sprout from the creative mind of Jenni and her team.

For this years event over 4 kilometres of (black) Prolyte truss is used, 30 circles and 300 corners. “Luckily there’s quite a broad rental base of Prolyte truss, with companies like Aku’s Factory, JDR Rigging and event design company Sun Effects themselves” explains Esa Kyllönen, from Prolyte distributor Electro Waves. “For all their specific requirements Sun Effects turns to us, whether it’s finding rental houses or sales, we’re always happy to help out”.

Apart from sustainability as a core value the social aspects are also core to the philosophy of Slush. Over 1500 volunteers contribute to giving visitors an unforgettable experience, and hundreds of these have contributed to making event props in Slush Talkoot - a Finnish word for the community coming together and working on a voluntary basis for a common cause.

Visiting Slush makes energy floating around almost tangible, whether this is created by the visual spectacle or relaxed atmosphere on the event site, or by meeting a team that is so enthused talking about your products, is left in the middle, but it was a totally enjoyable experience.

Slush

Selling a roof system is a complex procedure, a roof system is an investment for the long term and the owner needs not only to know how to build it correct and safely, but also should be aware how to use it most efficiently on future projects. The support we get from Prolyte really makes the difference
